Archive for January, 2010

Congratulations to Luke P and Hayd’n. Both were nominated for good work assembly this week.  Luke has worked hard throughout Numeracy this week and solved some year four word problems involving measure.  Hayd’n researched mountains during his own time at home last week, so well done to the both of you.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Well done to Emily for trying really hard in Literacy and using adjectives to describe her character. Also, well done to Abbie who has worked very hard in Numeracy all week. She can order fractions and identify fractions of shapes. Both girls were nominated for good work assembly.

Thank you and well done to Hayd’n who looked at Mrs Allen’s blog on Tuesday and completed some research about mountains whilst at home. Keep up the good work.

Our topic for this term is mountains. I have found a very good website which will enable you to investigate and research mountains. The website is www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/homework/mountains/volcanoes.htm

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

School Closure on Tuesday 19th January

It was lovely to see those of you who braved the cold today. I am really sorry to hear that we cannot be in school again. Like me, you are probably worried that you are missing out on important learning opportunities.

Here are a few ideas to keep you busy whilst school is closed.

* Homework which was given out on Friday

* Learn spellings

* Use spellings in sentences which make sense and are properly punctuated

* Read your reading books and other books you have at home.

As you already know, our topic for this term is Mighty Mountains. Click on the link to find out lots of information which will help you with your work in school. Can you answer the questions below?

Mountains

1) What is the tallest mountain in the world?
2) What mountain range is it part of?
3) How tall is it?
4) Who were the first men to climb this mountain?

Also go to this website for more learning activities. Click on the link to Educationcity.

You will need the Login ID: 330kitwell
Password: 793337

For numeracy try: Snow Hope, Cash Only and Scot Venture

For literacy try: Treasure Traps, River Deep and Survive a shower

Enjoy your day off but remember that tomorrow is officially a school day, so it would be good to make the most of these suggestions. Take care and I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday. Mrs Allen

Welcome to the Year 3 Blog, how very exciting!

Year 3 have a multi-skills competition on Wednesday and will need their P.E Kits, including jogging bottoms. If you haven’t already brought in your reply slips, please do so as soon as possible. It would be a shame to miss out on a fantastic opportunity.
